hot wheels

Check out our sweet new ride, the Britax B-Ready.
Never thought I'd be so excited over a stroller, let alone a double stroller! Hell, I don't think I ever thought I'd need a double but I suppose that is why the saying 'never say never' stuck around.

tummy time

A very distinct difference between F and Deuce is tummy time.

Fal h.a.t.e.d. tummy time and anything related to working her neck muscles. The hubs and I were joking about her not holding her head on her own until she was 3mo. Mostly joking because neither of us had ever handled a baby before and were overly cautious. No doubt this was the case...poor Deuce doesn't have a chance to be fragile. Ahhh, life as a second child. I'm sure the acid reflux is helping tremendously though. If there is an upside to this whole reflux b.s. she hates being on her back and welcomes tummy time and sitting up as much as we allow her to do so.
Of course, big sister needs to be a part of the action. Fully clothed (for once, I might add).
side-eye champion.
....and so does Gunny.
When you're the smallest of three kids, there is no chance for privacy. A big sister on the left and a puppy on the peace. no peace.

Judgy McJudgerson

I'll admit it. That was me.

It still is. But only on a part time basis.

One example, the Drive- through or "thru." There are many more but I don't think I need to take a controversial turn on a such beautiful afternoon.

The list is now endless of services offered outside fast food industry; coffee shops, pharmacies, ATMs, dry cleaners. I mean, how lazy can one be to not park and walk the short distance for a 500 calorie caffeinated drink? Until I had Deuce...I'm now realizing the value of the drive-through. And caffeinated beverages.

Juggling two kids and accomplishing mundane tasks aren't so mundane anymore. Yesterday I said aloud, why doesn't the post office have a drive-thru?! All I need are 3 books of stamps. If it was legal to leave the girls in the car for 2 minutes from door to the automatic machine inside to spit out the GD stamps....I would do it.

Instead this how it went down...I got Fal out, escorted her to the sidewalk, pulled out Deuce in her carrier, made a 3 minute pit-stop between the car and front door to pick up a dandelion flower and blow the seeds, open the door & debate with F why I opened the right door instead of the left, try and convince her it is the same & to walk in, give up and opened the left door just for her, make it to the machine & pressed the 5 buttons it took to retrieve my stamps. We made it back to the car in half the time because I gave her the receipt to read.

Total round trip post office visit? 10 minutes.

Drive thrus are genius.

What's fair

No summer is complete without a trip to visit the fair. The colors, the lights, the carnies; all a perfect recipe for a good time.

It started with a trip down the slide

Tried our hand at water gun shooting

Caught a fish

Drove a car

...and topped the day off with a massage. Well, kinda.

Whew, what a day!

Whoops, almost forgot...Deuce & I were there, too.

Reflux Sux

Two-ish weeks ago, Deuce went from baby coma into what we thought was growth spurt. Made sense following the 3-6-3 rule - 3 days, 6 days, 3 weeks, 6 get the idea. I talked with the girls' doctor about her uncomfortableness of being on her back. It had just started a couple days prior so she said to watch it, hopefully it wouldn't amount to anything. Neither of us wanted to jump to antibiotics and planned to give her a week to straighten itself out. 1 week turned into the second and she progressively acquired signs of reflux. Last Friday I knew she turned the corner. This wasn't going to clear on its own.

Monday morning after a smidge of sleep, I took her in, broke down in tears with the doc and got her on meds. It only took two dosages to give her a 5 hour sleep stretch that night.
Thankfully, after reading loads of horror stories on the interwebz I can assume that it's a mild case. Other than grunting, hating on the Back to Sleep campaign and spit ups after feedings, she has been a good baby. I, on the other hand, was the mess. No more than 2 hour stretches for 5 weeks will make this mama a dull girl. This week - with help of Zantac and coffee - has been much better. Hopefully Deuce sends reflux packing sooner rather than later.

Reflux can kick rocks. To be read with heavy handed sarcasm. She's just too pretty to have to deal with this.

big sis vs. little sis

There has been quite the debate as to who Deuce looks like. Does she look like her big sis? Does she take after daddy? Mommy? The milkman?

Cinderella chonies aren't optional but pants are in the eyes of a 2yr old. Those are for our eyes only.

Now I'll let you decide, do these babes look alike?

Deuce: Watch Me Grow - 1 Month.

She's even getting some roll definition in the legs!! YAY for baby chubs.

**Watch me grow will be an installation of 13 pictures of Deuce in a size 12 month birthday tee. We started at 2wks and will continue monthly until she reaches 1 year. Click on the tag watch deuce grow below to see her in succession. I might even start to get fancy and collage the pics together (if you're lucky). I wish I could take all the credit for something so clever but I stole the idea from my friend, Jenny. Thanks, JPD!**

A girl after my own heart

With this so-called summer we're having, I've been racking my brain for outdoor activities that don't involve water nor straying too far from home. If you didn't already know, she was a fish in her former life. She'll wake up and ask to go wimming.

Yesterday, I dusted off the ol' field hockey sticks and we got busy. It's been 8 (holy shite - that's aging me) years since I retired the college pads and I'm rusty as hell. In my heyday, I was pretty good and helped my college team earn a few league championships. We were awesome! She's well on her way to earning herself a spot as a GIANT.

What's that you ask? Is that a...?
Why yes, that is a shadow of an 8' stork on my front lawn. Isn't that a normal lawn decoration?
She'll be pro in no time.

EDITED: Since she's seemed to have surprised/scared some, thought I'd add this. She's been in swim class for about 16 months. Between class and her obsession with all things boat & water, it's no surprise she's this comfortable in the water. I slightly freaked out before she jumped in the 3rd video because she had the hubs pushed out to the opposite side of the pool. I'm certain she wasn't ready to jump and swim the width...although she surprises me everyday. Hell, she might be capable.

She's my waterbabe.
