my big girl

Baby girl or big girl?
I suppose she will always be my baby girl but each day she continues to amaze us with new things. Between singing 'a b c d e', ehhh-yooos (thank-you) and various animal noises, she makes me smile everyday. This evening has been no different. She went number 1 in the big girl potty! Ohmygosh!

She's taken an interest in the toilet, a fascination really. The past couple weeks we've talked about getting a training seat just to get her acquainted with it. I never thought she'd get down to business so soon. All afternoon she was sitting on her throne fully clothed playing with play-doh. Tonight after bath time, we let her run around in her birthday suit. Suddenly, she bolted across the living room and sat on the pot...and tinkled! Whoa. Daddy and I sat in in awe and high-fived her and sang praises - afterall you only have your first pot experience once, right? And because I know you're dying to see the evidence (there's not much really, just a tiny reflection).

I know, I'm slowly turning into that mom.

After we got her snuggled up in bed we found a trickle trail from her toys to the froggy. We laughed, grinned at one another and reiterated how wood floors was the way to go.

So there you have it. My baby girl is moving toward big girl status.

Up next: college bound.

For Casie

As far as I'm concerned, cancer is a dirty four letter word. It has unfortunately affected my life in more ways than I care to count.

This past Saturday, an old bud lost his battle - too too early - at the age of 29. Casie fought like a warrior up until the end. His bright smile is something I will never forget.
Casie, you will be missed. Rest in paradise, my friend.

Lawngames 2009

After Mammoth's cornhole (isn't that name for a game terrible!?!) & lasso golf games, we had the itch to host a lawn games party at the house. I can't think of a better way to spend the afternoon with friends, food & memory making competition...can you? Thus the inaugural Auger Lawn Games was born.

Behold!

We have some good looking friends, no?

Mammoth Lag

I have started and saved several posts - I just haven't hit publish. No real reason...I've been a blog funk. I'm busting at the seams with stuff to write so I'm breaking through, forgive me - my writing is...umm...less than stellar. I'm still haven't busted the funk.

Mammoth treated us like kings & queens (as usual). I feel at home every summer we head north. If I cared for seasons, I'd consider moving. BUT I happen to think that today's cool 65* is feeling like fall. I wore a sweater.all.day. How do you think I'd hold up in freezing temps? This isn't chemistry. I'd.die.period.end.

F was amazing and loved every minute we let her pluck rocks and toss in the stream, grab handfuls of dirt and general 1.5 year old shenanigans. See! She was awesome.

I have an incredible family. I love each and every one to pieces (not everyone was able to make it this year) but can't you feel the love? :D

And how does this compare?? Remember last year? She was soooo teeny!

Thanks again Mammoth for being a rock to our summer. I can't wait to see you again next year.
